Savory Croutons
Loaf of bread-cubed
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp course kosher salt
1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
1/4 to 1/2 tsp dried herb* (optional, see below)
3 tbsp Parmigiano-Reggiano or Pecorino cheese graded fine* (optional)
*add a dried herb and or cheese to the above if you would like to compliment a particular dish or themed meal. For instance, you may want to add oregano to the above if you are doing an Italian theme or thyme if you are serving a French dish.

Sweet Croutons
Loaf of bread-cubed
1/4 cup canola oil or melted butter
2-3 tsp sugar
1/2 to 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.
Cube bread and place on cookie sheet then drizzle oil or butter and sprinkle seasonings.
Toss with your hands and bake for 20-24 minutes tossing once half way through.
Sprinkle cheese on right when it comes out of the oven (if using)
When you remove from oven, place cookie sheet on rack and cool completely.
Store in an airtight container.
Sprinkle the savory croutons on salad or soup and the sweet croutons on oatmeal. Eat either as a snack right out of the container!
